Hollywood Beach Will Host a Star-Spangled America 250 Celebration

HOLLYWOOD — This Fourth of July will be more than another night of fireworks on the beach.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the United States will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In Hollywood, Florida, the city will celebrate with its annual Star-Spangled Spectacular on Hollywood Beach and the Broadwalk.[1]

The city’s America 250 Star-Spangled Spectacular Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, on Hollywood Beach. The official event listing calls for an official welcome by Mayor Josh Levy and the City Commission at 7 p.m., live music at the Bandshell from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and an offshore fireworks display beginning at 9 p.m.[2]

A separate city event listing for the annual Star-Spangled Spectacular describes the broader July 4 celebration as running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hollywood Beach and the Broadwalk, with entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. and fireworks beginning at 9 p.m.[3]

That gives Hollywood a simple and powerful America 250 setting: beach, Broadwalk, Bandshell, music and fireworks over the Atlantic.

Some cities celebrate the Fourth of July in a downtown park. Others gather by a river, lake or stadium. Hollywood celebrates where the city feels most like itself — along the ocean, on one of Florida’s most recognizable beach promenades. The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk is a place for walkers, cyclists, families, visitors, restaurants, hotels, small businesses, beachgoers and longtime residents. On July 4, it will become the city’s public stage for America’s 250th birthday.

The Fourth of July is always a day for flags, cookouts, music and fireworks. But in 2026, the holiday carries deeper meaning. America250, the national effort organizing the semiquincentennial, describes July 4, 2026, as the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and a moment to reflect on the nation’s past, honor the contributions of Americans, and look toward the future.[4]

Hollywood is a fitting place for that reflection because it represents a familiar Florida version of the American story. It is a beach city, but also a working city. Behind the postcard view are families, retirees, police officers, firefighters, teachers, hospitality workers, restaurant owners, small businesses, churches, condo communities, visitors and immigrants who make the city function every day.

The city also just came through a milestone of its own. Hollywood celebrated its centennial in 2025, marking 100 years as a city.[5] Now, one year later, the city is helping mark 250 years of the country. That gives the July 4 celebration a useful sense of scale: a century-old South Florida city celebrating a two-and-a-half-century-old republic.

At Hollywood Beach, the America 250 celebration will not need to be complicated. The setting does most of the work. Families will walk the Broadwalk. Visitors will find spots near the beach. Music will fill the Bandshell. Restaurants and hotels will carry the energy of a holiday weekend. Then, at 9 p.m., fireworks will rise offshore and reflect over the Atlantic.

That is the kind of Independence Day memory that sticks.

Two hundred and fifty years after the Declaration of Independence, Americans are still gathering in public places to celebrate freedom, family and country. The founders could not have imagined a modern beach city with high-rises, hotels, oceanfront restaurants, a public Bandshell and fireworks launched offshore. But they would recognize the larger idea: free people gathering together to celebrate their country.

In Hollywood, that celebration will be relaxed, coastal and unmistakably local. It will not have to compete with the bigger events in Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Hollywood’s strength is its setting — the beach, the Broadwalk and the ability to turn a summer night into a community gathering.

Families planning to attend should expect crowds and check city updates before heading to Hollywood Beach. Parking and traffic are likely to be challenging near the Broadwalk and beach area, especially as fireworks time approaches. Visitors should consider arriving early, using rideshare or public transportation where practical, and allowing extra time to walk to the viewing area.

For one night, Hollywood Beach will become the city’s stage for America’s 250th birthday.

The celebration will be simple: music at the Bandshell, families on the Broadwalk, fireworks over the ocean and a South Florida beach city joining the nation in marking 250 years of American independence.
