Four Florida Moms for Liberty Chapters Shut Down After Board Resignations, Citing Clash With National Leadership

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Tidings Media) — Executive boards in four Florida chapters of Moms for Liberty have resigned, dissolved their local groups, and “ceased all operations,” according to a joint statement dated Jan. 26, 2026. The departing boards represent Indian River, Pasco, Pinellas, and Seminole counties.

In a related development, this reporter and several other local parental rights activist leaders were removed around the same time from the Pinellas County M4L Facebook page after it was assumed by Moms for Liberty national leadership from local organizers. Advocates for parental rights note that grassroots activism in this space long predates any single organization and is expected to continue at the local level regardless of changes in national leadership or branding.  Alienating your group from concerned and involved community activists is a sure way to marginalize your own efforts in the Tampa Bay Region.  This was never about your group.  It was always and only about the children.

The development comes as the Florida Legislature’s 2026 Regular Session began this month, placing renewed attention on Tallahassee-facing advocacy efforts tied to K-12 education, parental rights, and school governance.

What the departing boards say happened

In their joint statement, the former chapter leaders said they left after what they described as severe internal issues inside the Moms for Liberty Florida Legislative Committee were repeatedly raised with national leadership and not resolved.

They said national leadership chose to suspend the Florida Legislative Committee for the 2026 legislative session, removed the committee’s prior autonomy, and stripped decision-making authority from the committee’s executive board and members. The former chapter leaders said the changes impaired the committee’s ability to function effectively.

The statement said the four chapters had been active, long-term members of the Florida Legislative Committee. The departing boards said they could no longer remain part of an organization that, in their view, did not fully support longstanding volunteers. The former board members said they intend to continue advocating for student and parental rights in their counties, outside the Moms for Liberty structure.

Indian River dissolution surfaced earlier

The joint statement follows reporting and related newsroom social posts indicating the Indian River County chapter dissolved after its chair, Jennifer Pippin, resigned earlier this month. In those posts, Pippin cited concerns about the national organization’s direction, including a shift toward federal issues, and announced the launch of a new local group.

What to watch next

  • Whether new Moms for Liberty leadership is appointed in any of the four counties, or whether chapters remain inactive.

  • Whether the Florida Legislative Committee resumes operations in a new form during the 2026 session.

  • Whether former chapter leaders consolidate into a new Florida-based coalition, or re-engage county-by-county as independent advocates.
