Tidings Media® Is Building Independent Local Journalism, One Florida Community at a Time

Image

Tidings Media® was created with a simple mission: help Florida readers find useful local information without the clutter. In a media environment increasingly dominated by national narratives, algorithm-driven outrage, and shrinking local newsrooms, Tidings Media is focused on something more practical: independent local journalism, curated community updates, statewide Florida stories, weather, events, schools, sports, politics, and civic information that people can actually use.

Now, every Tidings Media market has its own dedicated local page.

That means each community will have a home for statewide Tidings Media coverage, but also locally curated content specific to that area. Readers will find local event guides, Fourth of July celebrations, Father’s Day activity roundups, local sports stories, school updates, political coverage, community notices, and daily weather updates powered by AccuWeather.

Tidings Media is not trying to be another noise machine. We are building a network of local pages that help residents stay connected to what is happening around them.

Help Wanted: Local Editors for Tidings Media Markets

Tidings Media is looking for volunteer local editors in each of our Florida markets.

This is a non-paid opportunity, but it is also a chance to help build something meaningful in your community. Local journalism matters. Community information matters. School updates, weather alerts, local government decisions, sports stories, neighborhood events, and family-friendly guides matter.

We are looking for people who care about their city and want to help make sure residents have a reliable local page they can check every day.  You will get an editor byline, and the ability to post content of interest to you locally as well as submit stories if you want to write them that would be statewide centric.  You'll also run the Tidings Media Facebook page for your local community.

Local editors should be willing to commit to one local article per day. That may be a curated event guide, a school update, a local sports story, a city government item, a community announcement, a weather-related update, or a short local feature that helps residents stay informed.  It could be as simple as a community event posted to your community calendar.

This is an opportunity for people who love their community, understand the importance of local information, and want to be part of building an independent Florida media network from the ground up.  In 2027, we will be adding local and Statewide advertising, and a 20% commission for advertising will be paid to our local editors for any advertising connections you bring to Tidings Media in 2027.

If you are interested in becoming the local editor for one of the Tidings Media markets, email tidingsmedia@protonmail.com.

Please include your name, the market you are interested in, and a brief note about why you would be a good fit.

Tidings Media will follow up with selected candidates.
