A Personal Note From Tidings Media Founder David Happe

Most people who know me personally know that insurance is not how I make my living.

I became a Florida Licensed Agent for Insurance and Annuities — Florida License W954746 — after a friend in the funeral business encouraged me to look into it. At first, I mostly helped friends and family. It was quiet, personal, and very much word-of-mouth.  It still kind of is, until this post.

But over time, something interesting happened. The business started to gain momentum.

I think part of that is because people are tired of getting pushed into one-size-fits-all insurance products by call centers, scripts, and radio ads. They want someone who will slow down, explain things plainly, and help them compare real options without pressure. That is what I try to do.  I'm not interested in "selling" you insurance.

I am an independent insurance and annuities agent, which means I am not locked into one company. I can look at different carriers and make individualized, curated recommendations based on your situation, your budget, and what you are actually trying to protect.  I only work with the best carriers in Florida, and I can choose who I want to work with.

That service is now available across all Tidings Media markets, with personal service and the Buy Happe guarantee.  When I retire, I will end up doing this full time, not because of the income but it is truly something that God has gifted me with - the ability to help people on their darkest day.  I become the first phone call for people who are staring down the death of a loved one, and I am trained in psychological first aid by the American Red Cross to be uniquely qualified to navigate people through this.

Final Expense Florida

One of the areas I am focusing on is Final Expense Florida, available at www.finalexpenseflorida.com.

Final expense insurance is generally designed to help cover costs that come at the end of life, including funeral expenses, burial or cremation costs, small debts, or other final bills. For many families, the goal is simple: do not leave loved ones scrambling emotionally and financially at the same time.

This is not about scaring people. It is about planning ahead while you still have choices.

I also help people look at term life insurance. Term insurance is usually designed to provide coverage for a specific period of time, such as 10, 20, or 30 years. It can be useful for people who want protection during key years of life, such as raising children, paying a mortgage, building a business, or making sure a spouse has financial breathing room if something unexpected happens.

Final expense and term insurance are different tools. The right answer depends on your age, health, family situation, budget, and goals.

A Different Kind of Carrier

One of the full line carriers I work with is a fraternal organization.

That means it is not just a traditional insurance company. Fraternal benefit societies are member-based organizations that provide insurance products while also supporting charitable, community, religious, or service-oriented work. In some cases, members may also have access to additional benefits, community programs, or values-based initiatives connected to the organization.  They're a non-profit, so the money goes back to the members in the form of lower premiums and sometimes dividends.

For the right person or family, that can be a meaningful difference. It is not just about buying a policy. It can also be about working with an organization that has a broader mission.

I am not Catholic, but one of my fraternal carriers specializes by serving Catholics and is diocese affiliated out of Wisconsin.  It's a very cool company, and you don't need to be Catholic to benefit from their membership and low rates.  Something to look into.

Personal Meetings, Not a Call Center

For people in Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, and Hillsborough counties, I can meet face to face. For the rest of Florida, online appointments are available statewide.

You will not be routed to a call center. You will not be handed off to a stranger reading from a script. You will meet with me personally.

This is still a soft part of my business. I am not trying to turn Tidings Media into an insurance billboard. But I do want readers, friends, family, and neighbors to know that this service is available.

For more information, call 1-833-HAPPE-FL or visit https://floridalifeinsurance.net/ to learn more or book an appointment.

If you know me personally, you can also just text me. And if you prefer communicating by text, you can text 813-330-0305.  I can ONLY work with Florida residents as I am only licensed in Florida.

Most families are left with more than expenses. They are left with questions.

When a loved one passes away, grief is overwhelming. Trying to track down accounts, figure out what bills need to be paid, locate life insurance policies, or understand their final wishes adds unnecessary stress. Organizing your family information now is a profound gift of clarity for those you leave behind. This guide serves as a family roadmap, not an insurance sales brochure.
